Tresoldi's hat‑trick gives Club Brugge surprise win at Inter

Nicolò Tresoldi, the 22‑year‑old German U21 striker, scored a hat‑trick as Club Brugge stunned Italian champions Inter Milan 4‑3 at the San Siro on Tuesday evening, securing the Belgian side’s first win of the Champions League campaign.

Record‑breaking performance

At 22 years and 54 days, Tresoldi became the youngest German player to net three goals in a single Champions League match, overtaking Karim Adeyemi, who had achieved the feat at 22 years and 257 days.

The hat‑trick unfolded with a penalty in the 30th minute, followed by goals in the 63rd and 74th minutes, all while the match swung back and forth.

Match details and other scorers

Inter’s Lautaro Martínez pulled one back before half‑time and added another in the 81st minute, keeping the contest tight. Late goals came from Romeo Vermant for Brugge in the 87th minute and Inter’s Ange‑Yoan Bonny in stoppage time, sealing the 4‑3 result.

Despite the loss, Inter’s status as Serie A champions was evident, but Brugge’s resilience earned them a historic victory on Italian soil.

International future

Tresoldi remains eligible for both Germany and Italy, though he has not yet declared his senior allegiance. He recently helped the German U21 side qualify for the 2027 European Championship in Albania and Serbia.

His rapid rise and record‑setting display have drawn attention from both national federations, highlighting his potential impact on the senior international stage.
