Tresoldi gifts Brugge the win at San Siro, but Lautaro isn’t enough

The result of the San Siro match, valid for the first stage of the Champions League, put Chivu's Inter in difficulty: the Italo‑German striker Nicolò Tresoldi scored a hat‑trick that allowed Brugge to win 4‑3, while Lautaro Martínez's brace was not enough to avoid defeat.

Tresoldi's decisive role

Tresoldi's three goals (at 30’, 63’ and 73’) put the Nerazzurri defence under pressure, giving Brugge a temporary lead. The young striker was rated 8.5, described as a “shout‑worthy hat‑trick” and considered the number one threat to Inter's defence.

His performance was praised by Ansa and , who described the player “super protagonist”. Tresoldi's hat‑trick also attracted the attention of Serie A scouts, including an emissary of coach Mancini, present in the stands.

Lautaro's intervention and defensive difficulties

Lautaro Martínez scored two goals (at 44’ and 81’), but his contribution was judged insufficient: a rating of 7.5 places him among the evening’s “flops”, with the defence having conceded three goals. Inter's defence, with Bisseck, Akanji and Bastoni, was described as “in great difficulty”.

Among the defenders, Akanji was flagged for having “cooked the omelette” that gave Brugge the 2‑1 lead. Diouf and Bonny tried to save the team, with Bonny scoring at 78’ in stoppage time.

The full match sheet, provided by Ansa and , also lists the stoppage minutes (1’ and 7’) and the attendance of 73,859 spectators. The referee was Saggi (Norway) with VAR Cerro Grande (Spain).

The starting line‑ups saw Inter line up a 3‑5‑2 with Martínez up front, while Brugge deployed a 4‑3‑2‑1 with Tresoldi as striker. Among the substitutes, Vermant (B) at 83’ for Brugge and Spence (I) at 78’ for Inter stand out.

The result marks a new “collapse” for Inter in the Champions League, after the bitter debut in Real Madrid’s “den”. Chivu’s side will now have to face a steeper climb in Europe to defend the Italian championship title.
