Third hat‑trick in 26 days: Tresoldi's run thrills Brugge

In the stadium of Club Brugge, a tense atmosphere prevailed on Sunday as fans awaited the appearance of their young striker. Only a few minutes after kickoff, Nicolo Tresoldi set the tone by opening the match with a spectacular hat‑trick. The 22‑year‑old U21 international confirmed his outstanding form.
Hat‑tricks in three competitions
In the 3‑2 victory of Club Brugge over VV St. Truiden in the Jupiler Pro League, Tresoldi scored all three of his team's goals – twice with left‑ and right‑foot shots shortly before halftime (41’, 43’) and once in the 75th minute to restore the 2‑0 half‑time lead. The win kept Brugge as runners‑up, just a point behind KAA Gent after nine matchdays.
In September, Tresoldi already netted another hat‑trick in the jersey of the German U21 national team against Malta (4‑1), demonstrating his scoring rate on the international stage. Even earlier, in the Champions League clash against Inter Milan (4‑3), he also scored three times, showcasing his class at the European level.
Season statistics and league position
In the current season, Tresoldi sits atop the scoring chart with twelve goals in fourteen matches, alongside Norman Bassette. In October alone, he delivered seven goals for Club Brugge, an impressive contribution to the team's recent successes.
Through his goals, Brugge remains at the heart of the title race and closely tracks league leaders Gent. The current table highlights how crucial Tresoldi's consistency is for the title defenders.
Arsenal and Milan chase Bruges striker Tresoldi – winter transfer uncertain
Transfer rumours and international future
The striker moved in 2025 for €7.5 million from Hannover 96 to Club Brugge and has a contract there until 2029. His performances have attracted interest from prominent clubs, including Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan, FC Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur and FC Arsenal.
Especially AC Milan is pushing the transfer forward: reportedly the deal has become a top priority for club owner Gerry Cardinale, although it remains unclear whether a move will happen in January or only next summer. The Rossoneri see Tresoldi as the ideal player for their profile, as he already possesses a high level and still has development potential.
A personal factor favours Milan: Tresoldi is a passionate Milan fan, which his father Emanuele recently confirmed: “He fell in love with Kaká, Inzaghi and Pato – and it was impossible to dissuade him.” The player emphasises that his dream is to wear the AC Milan shirt.
Internationally, Tresoldi remains undecided. He has most recently been omitted from the 44‑man squad of national coach Jürgen Klopp, but he plays for the German U21 side, where he has already scored 16 goals in 27 internationals. Due to his Argentine mother, he could also represent Argentina, while Italy is also an option. He intends to make a final decision only after the junior European Championship next summer.
