Sturm Graz reclaim league lead as Austria Wien surge past Pölten

Sturm Graz's victory over Altach and Austria Wien's 0-3 win against Pölten have reshaped the ÖFB-Frauen Bundesliga table, putting Graz on to 23 points at the summit and giving Wien a game‑in‑hand on the leaders.
Sturm Graz's decisive win
SK Sturm Graz travelled to the Schnabelholz Stadium and needed a win to stay in the title conversation. Talisman forward Laura Krumböck opened the scoring after a precise cross from Hungary legend Lilla Sipos, tapping the ball home near the post. In the dying minutes Altach defender Flavia Lüscher deflected a ball into her own net, sealing a 0‑2 victory for Graz.
The three points moved Sturm Graz back to first place with 23 points, although Austria Wien and Pölten each retain a game‑in‑hand. Altach remain fourth, equal on points with Red Bull Salzburg but with a game to play later.
Austria Wien's dominant victory
FK Austria Wien travelled to St. Pölten and ended the home side's unbeaten run with a 0‑3 triumph. Patricia Pfanner scored in the fourth minute after 17‑year‑old Valentina Pötzl beat three defenders to set up the chance. Kosovan forward Modesta Uka added a second from range, and a third came after Louise Schöffel’s effort deflected into the net.
The win lifted Austria Wien to second place, also with a game‑in‑hand on Graz, while Pölten dropped from first to third despite their own game‑in‑hand. Referee Biljana Iskin issued ten yellow cards in a physical, tense encounter.
In the Linz derby, LASK defeated Blau‑Weiß Linz, continuing the latter's struggle at the foot of the table. The result further separates the top four, which will soon battle for European spots, from the bottom half fighting to avoid relegation to the ÖFB-Frauen Bundesliga 2.
Red Bull Salzburg secured a win over Südburgenland, who remain at the bottom without a response to the visitors. The league’s tenth round of results has therefore produced a significant reshuffle.
Elsewhere, SK Rapid drew 1‑1 with First Vienna in Hütteldorf. Rapid’s Ilvy Taucher scored in the 21st minute, while First Vienna’s captain Claudia Wasser equalised just before the 60th minute. Interim manager Peter Ganster admitted the team were “lucky not to have conceded more goals in the first half.”
