Exclusion criticism forces Prass into costly fallout for Hoffenheim

Alexander Prass of TSG Hoffenheim showed an exaggerated celebration after his 89th‑minute goal against Bayer Leverkusen, which resulted in a yellow‑red card and a match ban – an incident that, according to coach Christian Ilzer, could bring costly consequences for the team.
Cost of the exaggerated celebration
Coach Christian Ilzer commented on the incident with a smile and said: „The team will sort it out, he'll get something brewed for him.“ He also recalled the 3‑0 home win of his TSG against Bayer Leverkusen, which was achieved without a deficit at halftime.
Prass had secured the victory decisively with his goal in the 89th minute, thereby sealing the result definitively.
Shortly after the goal, the 25‑year‑old took off his shirt, even though he had already received a yellow card in the 45th minute; the action led to a yellow‑red card and a one‑match ban.
Striker Andrej Kramaric called the behaviour “a bit stupid” and showed understanding, while Ilzer praised the player for his recent performances and advised: “Going without a kit is something for the beach. He’ll have to think of another celebration.”
Referee Robert Hartmann, who replaced the injured Daniel Siebert after the break, explained that the offence burdens the club’s finances and that there is no leeway, making the yellow‑red inevitable.
