Spanish police investigate break‑in at Troy Parrott Seville home
Spanish police are investigating a break‑in at the home of Ireland international Troy Parrott near Seville. The 24‑year‑old Dubliner has lived in the Andalusian city since his summer transfer from AZ Alkmaar to La Liga side Real Betis. He featured as a substitute for the final 26 minutes in Real Betis’ 5‑2 home loss to Barcelona.
Several masked men were captured on CCTV entering and leaving the property last Saturday evening, but police believe they left without taking any items. The intrusion occurred on an upmarket residential estate called El Zaudin in the Aljarafe region, just south of Seville, after security staff alerted the occupants.
Recent string of robberies
The incident follows two other high‑profile burglaries in the area. Three days earlier teammate Antony suffered a robbery at his nearby home while the team were playing a Champions League match against Porto. Earlier in the week former Sevilla goalkeeper Sergio Rico and his family were forced from their home in Bollullos de la Mitación by masked men brandishing a gun.
Well‑placed sources confirmed that the break‑in at Parrott’s house is part of the same series of crimes under investigation by the Civil Guard. The spokesperson said, “We are investigating a series of robberies at homes in the Aljarafe region of Seville over the past few days. No arrests have yet been made, but we are confident we will catch the culprits.”
He added that the Saturday incident is classified as an attempted robbery because nothing was taken. “I can’t say exactly what time it occurred or why nothing was taken,” the officer explained, noting that investigators are not yet ready to link the recent intrusions to a single gang.
