Spalletti eyes €40m Sørloth despite Muani’s arrival
Juventus, under manager Luciano Spalletti, have revived interest in Norway striker Alexander Sørloth from Atlético Madrid, targeting a deal worth roughly €40 million while demanding a minimum €30 million and considering a loan swap for Nico González, despite the recent signing of Randal Kolo Muani.
According to Tuttosport, Spalletti has long admired Sørloth as the type of penalty‑box target man his system requires, and he personally contacted the Norway international to outline his plans for Turin.
Talks with Atlético were initially opened under the previous regime of Damien Comolli and Marco Ottolini, and Sørloth was said to be enthusiastic about a move to Juventus, but the club’s boardroom upheaval – including Comolli’s exit and the appointments of chief executive Giovanni Carnevali and sporting director Frederic Massara – slowed the negotiations.
Atlético’s valuation of around €40 million has been a further obstacle, while Juventus have set a floor of €30 million; a discount could be offered if Atlético agrees to a paid loan of Sørloth in the opposite direction, a clause that could hinge on the future of Argentine midfielder Nico González.
For Juventus, the logic is clear: the signing of Kerim Alajbegović has crowded an already busy forward line, nudging González toward exit, and Sørloth’s recent goal returns – 26 for Villarreal, then 24 and 20 in successive seasons – exceed those of Kolo Muani, making him a more attractive option for Spalletti’s tactics.
Atlético, meanwhile, see the arrangement as a way to bring back González, who has made no secret of his wish to reunite with Diego Simeone, while Juventus would secure a fee of at least €30 million and a loan of Sørloth that could balance both clubs’ financial plans.
A photo of Nico González was taken during the LaLiga EA Sports match between Atlético de Madrid and Real Madrid on September 27, 2025, underscoring the Argentine’s continued visibility in the Spanish league.
