Manchester City eye Liverpool's midfield star Alexis Mac Allister
Manchester City are reportedly preparing a bid for Liverpool’s Argentine midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, with saying the club could submit an offer in the coming days, as City have already spent €134 million on Elliot Anderson and are close to securing Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille.
Midfield overhaul continues
Manchester City have made clear they are not finished with their massive midfield project. After the €134 million outlay for Elliot Anderson, the Citizens are also on the brink of adding Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille. Their next target is the Argentine international, Alexis Mac Allister.
According to , the Manchester club is seriously studying the possibility of sending an offer to Liverpool within days. The interest underscores City’s ambition to reshape their midfield core ahead of the summer.
Mac Allister’s credentials
Alexis Mac Allister, 27, is a 2022 World Cup champion who completed a demanding 2025‑2026 season with Liverpool, featuring in 55 matches across all competitions and scoring five goals. His technical quality, composure under pressure and experience at the highest level make him an attractive prospect for the Citizens.
Les Reds are expected to be reluctant to strengthen a direct Premier League rival. Liverpool have no desire to aid a title challenger and could prove difficult to persuade to accept a bid.
Should City decide to pursue the Argentine, they will need to open the cheque to outbid Liverpool. However, recent English press reports suggest Mac Allister may not be eager to leave the Reds.
The situation is set to develop in the coming days as both clubs weigh their options.
