Spain's World champions donate almost a million euros to the federation

On Saturday, the Spanish national team, freshly crowned world champions, will play its first Nations League match after winning the title. Before the match, it was revealed that a player donated his World Cup bonus of almost one million euros to the RFEF staff.

Luis de la Fuente led La Roja in the summer to the World Cup title, beating Argentina in the final after extra time 1-0.

The 26-man squad received, in addition to the trophy, a large financial bonus that, according to reports, amounts to just under one million euros.

A player who wishes to remain anonymous did not keep the bonus for himself, but gave it away to the employees of the Spanish football association RFEF.

The total World Cup earnings were estimated at around 44 million euros (approximately 50 million US dollars).

New Nations League tasks for the world champions

In the first Nations League match, La Roja faces England under coach Thomas Tuchel, the team that finished third at the World Cup.
