Spain pushes its bid for the Nations League 2027 final four

With the echo of Spain’s triumph at Wembley still resonating in the stadium, the RFEF declared that it will request UEFA to organise the Nations League final four in June 2027, provided the national team meets the essential requirement of qualifying.

Proposed venues

Rafael Louzán, president of the RFEF, announced that the two venues put forward are the Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid and the Nuevo José Zorrilla in Valladolid, both proposed with the collaboration of Real Madrid and Real Valladolid.

The regulations state that the final stage is held in the country of one of the four semi‑finalists, which must submit its bid voluntarily. If the Spanish proposal succeeds, the final would be contested at the Bernabéu.

Background of the Nations League

The most recent final four was played in Germany in 2025, with Stuttgart and Munich as hosts; before that, the Netherlands organised it in 2023 (Enschede and Rotterdam), Italy in 2021 (Turin and Milan) and Portugal in 2019 (Porto and Guimarães).

The announcement was made in the mixed zone at Wembley after the match between England and the Spanish national team, where La Roja prevailed.

According to Peter Cziborra of Reuters, President Louzán addressed the Spanish media to confirm the intention to submit the bid.

Journalist Luis Buxeres, born in Barcelona in 1975 and with a career at La Razón, ABC and La Vanguardia, also covered the story from London.

The AI‑generated audio accompanying the broadcast includes the phrase “With the echoes of Spain’s triumph at Wembley” and the word “By” when referring to the federation’s initiative.
