Spaan praises Van Bommel's assist, Aaron Bouwman seriously injured

Henk Spaan praised the beautiful assist from Ruben van Bommel to Cody Gakpo in his column in Het Parool, even suggesting that Aaron Bouwman may have been seriously injured by the hard collision with a PSV forward and now has to miss several weeks.

In the first match under national coach Xavi Hernandez, the Dutch national team was for a long time trailing 0-1 against Germany in the Nations League. In the final phase, substitute Van Bommel delivered a fantastic cross, which Cody Gakpo of Liverpool finished perfectly. Spaan wrote: “It was the quality of that equaliser that had a huge impact on the dopamine level in my blood.”

The left winger of the Oranje and PSV provided a pinpoint cross with the outside of his foot, after which the Liverpool striker and the Dutch national team finished it neatly. Van Bommel started by stealing the ball from Gnabry's feet, then he ran the talent out with his irritating bandana, tapped the ball perfectly with his left for his right, into exactly the right corner.

Spaan concludes that even Aaron Bouwman, the Ajax defender who recently suffered a hard collision with a PSV forward, may have been seriously injured.

Bouwman's injury and consequences

The collision has resulted in a hospital admission for Bouwman, who now has to look out for several weeks and cannot play any matches.
