Sommer wants to beat Inter after a free transfer
Monday 12 October 2026, Yann Sommer confirmed that he left Inter on a free transfer for Club Brugge and wants to beat the Nerazzurri side in the upcoming Champions League match. After three seasons with Inter, during which he collected four trophies, the Swiss goalkeeper expressed gratitude for the time spent in Milan.
The transfer to Bruges
Sommer moved to Club Brugge in the summer, without any compensation for Inter. The new Belgian club will be the opponent of the Nerazzurri in the Champions League group stage, a match that the goalkeeper describes as “a personal challenge”. The transfer took place with the agreement of both parties, according to him.
“The club and I had decided that it was the right time to part ways, the relationship is still great”, Sommer said. “I loved Inter and the San Siro, it was an extraordinary chapter. Three wonderful years, from victories to mistakes”.

Assessments on Inter
Sommer praised Inter's quality, stating that the team has the cards to win the Champions League. “I love Pio Esposito, he is humble, powerful and has a great physique. We have Tresoldi, who can become a great striker, promising youngsters and many internationals”.
The goalkeeper also commented on Inter's future, asserting that his successor “deserves to be a starter”. “I have watched some matches and I disagree with the judgments: he is doing well, playing for Inter is difficult because of the great pressure”.
