Slovan legionnaire Wimmer questions club priorities after Champions League exit

Kevin Wimmer had to leave the pitch at halftime after his return to Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League against LASK, trailing 0‑4, due to suspicion of a muscle fibre tear. The Upper Austrian was disappointed that the return to his former ground was not worth the journey.
After the game, Wimmer criticised his club’s priority and stated that the focus was being placed on the league because they were second and only the first place counted.
He added that it was very annoying to come to Linz after qualifying for the Champions League and not even try to take points.

Wimmer noted that the team played with a five‑man backline for the first time this season, even though it had never been trained, and that four regular players were left out.
Nevertheless, the 33‑year‑old praised his former team, mentioned the impressive development of the new stadium, the fans and the return of Didi Kühbauer, highlighted the many deep runs, the high movement and rotation rate, and said that LASK had deservedly won in Lisbon, so today’s match was not really difficult.
