Season‑ending ACL injury derails Arsenal’s Kvaratskhelia dream
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was forced off in the 59th minute of PSG’s 4-2 win over Barcelona, and Paris Saint‑Germain have confirmed the Georgian will miss the rest of the season after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament on Tuesday night.
Champions League win and injury fallout
Paris continued its Champions League trophy defence with the victory, while also eyeing a third trophy in as many years. The club published an injury update stating that Kvaratskhelia will undergo surgery in the coming days.
The update also revealed that Ousmane Dembele, who left the field with a left‑thigh problem in the 20th minute, will remain in treatment for several weeks. Team captain Marquinhos, substituted alongside Kvaratskhelia, suffered a right‑thigh injury and faces a similar recovery period.
These three setbacks represent a heavy blow: the previous season’s Champions League Best Player, last year’s Ballon d’Or winner, and the club captain of the past six seasons are all sidelined.

Arsenal’s lost target
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, a known admirer of the winger’s skillset, will be particularly disappointed. Pundits have described Kvaratskhelia as a ‘dream’ signing who could boost the Gunners’ attack and operate anywhere across the front three thanks to PSG’s free‑flowing forward system.
Despite the hype, the player has shown no desire to leave Paris. His father Badri Kvaratskhelia confirmed before the summer window that his son had no interest in a move, and reporter Fabrizio Romano echoed PSG’s adamancy that the winger will stay.
Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour argued the Gunners should still try to acquire him, but warned it would be incredibly difficult. “You can’t stand still in the Premier League… I would like to get Kvaratskhelia from PSG on the left if they can, but I don’t think you’ll get him,” he told The Sun.
