Schalke eye Frankfurt's versatile Ebimbe after Lindström deal collapses
FC Schalke 04 are on the brink of signing 25‑year‑old Junior Dina Ebimbe from Eintracht Frankfurt. The clubs have reportedly agreed a contract, with a transfer fee of €1.3 million and possible performance bonuses. Only Frankfurt’s formal consent remains before the move can be completed.
The pursuit follows the collapse of Jesper Lindström’s transfer, which left Schalke searching for a new solution. After that deal fell through, the club redirected its focus to an alternative Bundesliga professional. According to the outlet Absolut Football, Schalke’s interest in Ebimbe has intensified.
Schalke’s urgency is driven by injuries to Robin Gosens and Adrian Gantenbein, both sidelined on the flanks. The club therefore needs versatile players who can cover multiple wide‑area roles. Ebimbe fits that profile, capable of operating on the right, left or in central midfield, offering the team additional tactical options.
The Cameroonian joined Eintracht Frankfurt from Paris Saint‑Germain in 2022 after a promising start but never secured a regular place. Last season he spent time on loan at Stade Brest, featuring in 27 Ligue 1 matches and scoring five goals. Despite that respectable output, the French side chose not to retain him permanently.
At present Ebimbe does not feature prominently in Frankfurt’s plans, and his contract runs until 2027. A summer sale therefore presents a logical solution for the Hessen club, allowing them to recoup value from a player who is not central to their future.
For Schalke, the deal would finally deliver an experienced Bundesliga professional after the Lindström gamble failed. Frankfurt would obtain a €1.3 million fee and potential bonuses, while Schalke would bolster its squad depth ahead of the new season. If Frankfurt agrees, the transfer could be officially announced within the coming days.
