Santa Clara loans two Brazilians to Portimonense for new experience
Santa Clara announced on Thursday that it has loaned Brazilian centre‑back Italo Cabelinho and midfielder Jader Gentil to fellow Portuguese side Portimonense, with the agreement running until June 2027. The move offers a Nova experience for both players in the Primeira Liga.
Italo Cabelinho arrived in Portugal during the 2024/2025 season and featured in 23 matches for Santa Clara’s under‑23 side in 2025/2026. The club hopes the loan will allow him to continue his development and evolve as a central defender.
Jader Gentil has been linked to Santa Clara since 2024 but never wore the first‑team shirt officially. His career includes loan spells at Univ. Católica, Cuiabá and Goianiense before the new temporary transfer to Portimonense.
The loan was confirmed on Thursday and is valid until June 2027, giving both players ample time to integrate into the Portimonense squad and gain experience in Portuguese football.
Portimonense is no stranger to receiving Brazilian talent from the Azores; the club previously took Edney Silva and Thauan Lara on loan from Santa Clara.
Both players now embark on a new chapter in Portugal, with the expectation that regular playing time at Portimonense will aid their growth and benefit the team’s defensive and midfield options.
