Ruperti and Manschot take VAR roles in Europa play‑offs for the tournament

Clay Ruperti and Jeroen Manschot served as VAR officials in Thursday’s Europa League and Conference League play‑off first legs, with Ruperti assisting Ukrainian referee Mykola Balakin in the Mjällby AIF‑FC Salzburg tie and Manschot supporting Albanian referee Enea Jorgji in the Víkingur Reykjavík‑FK Borac match.

Ruperti backs Balakin in Sweden

Ruperti was positioned behind the video screens to aid Mykola Balakin during the Europa League encounter between Swedish champions Mjällby AIF and Austria’s FC Salzburg. The assignment placed him at the heart of the decision‑making process for that fixture.

Manschot operated from Iceland, monitoring the Conference League game where Víkingur Reykjavík faced Bosnia‑Herzegovina side FK Borac alongside referee Enea Jorgji. His role mirrored Ruperti’s, providing video assistance for the Albanian official.

Both officials are scheduled to return to VAR duties the following week, continuing their involvement in the European competition qualifiers.
