Romano Newcastle United are set to reach full agreement over Amar Dedic as the Magpies move to strengthen their right side, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, who posted the update on X after the final round of talks was scheduled.

Deal specifics

The target is Benfica’s 23‑year‑old right‑back Amar Dedic. He logged 43 appearances in all competitions last season and helped Benfica remain unbeaten in the league and reach the Champions League knockout stage.

Newcastle’s new manager Matthias Jaissle has highlighted a lack of depth on the right, with Tino Livramento as starter and Leo Shahar as only backup. Jaissle said, “You all see the matches. You are also smart enough to see the needs in the squad.”

The Reuters report notes that the final round of talks with Benfica has been scheduled, indicating the clubs are close to sealing the transfer. Romano posted the update on X, confirming the agreement is near completion.

Newcastle’s summer has also seen departures of Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Anthony Gordon, while new signings include Bazoumana Traore, Aladji Bamba, Lukas Hornicek, Sean Steur and Ewan Jaouen. The club hopes Dedic will add the competition needed on the right flank.
