Romano confirms Napoli's imminent loan of Obaretin to Lorient

Fabrizio Romano confirmed that SSC Napoli will send defender Nusa Edward Obaretin to Lorient on an imminent loan, with a €3.5 million purchase option and a future resale percentage, marking the latest departure from the Italian side this summer.

Obaretin, a defender born in 2003, has been a member of SSC Napoli's youth system. The loan will see him spend the upcoming season at Lorient, where he is expected to compete for a regular place in the back line.

Loan terms and financials

The arrangement includes a purchase option priced at €3.5 million. In addition, Napoli will retain a percentage of any future resale fee, ensuring a continued financial stake.

Competing interest and Napoli's strategy

Lorient secured the deal despite an alternative offer from Sturm Graz. Napoli's willingness to accept Lorient's terms reflects the club's broader aim to offload surplus players this window.

The move adds to a series of recent departures from SSC Napoli, as the club continues to reshape its roster. Romano noted that the club must keep making sales to balance its squad.

The transfer was reported through the Calciomercato Napoli channel, appearing in the Stampa A− A+ feed. The inclusion of both A− and A+ tags highlights the source's classification within the publication.

For Lorient, Obaretin provides a young defensive option with potential resale value. Napoli, meanwhile, clears a roster spot while preserving a future profit share.
