Ringmahon Rangers face five-year FAI Cup exile as regulators act

Ringmahon Rangers AFC face a five‑year exclusion from the FAI Senior Cup while the club had been set to host Bohemians in a second‑round tie on 19 July. The withdrawal triggered a €5,000 fine and highlighted the clash between disciplinary action and a scheduled Premier Division showdown.

The Independent Disciplinary Committee imposed the five‑year ban and the €5,000 penalty after Ringmahon Rangers pulled out of the fixture. The sanction applies specifically to the FAI Senior Cup competition.

In addition, the same committee handed the Cork club a three‑year ban from the FAI Intermediate Cup, extending the punitive measures beyond the senior tournament.

Bohemians, who sit second in the Premier Division, were to travel to Cobh Ramblers' ground, St Colman's Park, because Ringmahon Rangers' own venue does not meet FAI Cup requirements. The match would have taken place at the Ramblers' stadium.

"The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) reminded clubs of their obligations to fulfil fixtures under FAI Disciplinary Regulations and competition rules," the association said. "The FAI is committed to protecting the integrity of its competitions and ensuring that all fixtures are respected," it added, noting that the decision may be appealed.
