RFEF pushes Santiago Bernabeu to host 2027 Nations League final

RFEF president Rafael Louzan has confirmed that the Santiago Bernabeu is the preferred venue for the 2027 Nations League final, with official documents now being submitted to UEFA for the tournament’s concluding stages.

Renovated stadium ready for a showcase

The Bernabeu, long regarded as a monument of world football, has emerged from a major renovation as a state‑of‑the‑art stadium whose facilities few other venues can match.

Despite the upgrades, the stadium has not yet hosted a major football spectacle since the work began, as construction is still officially incomplete.

Bid process and rivals

UEFA’s shortlist for the 2027 final includes the Bernabeu and the José Zorrilla stadium, with the Spanish federation indicating the Bernabeu as its chosen candidate.

Fabrizio Romano reported that the RFEF’s submission aims to secure both the final four and the final match for Spain.

Real Madrid stand to benefit from the decision, hoping to turn the night into a festival should the venue be confirmed.

The prospect of the World Champions Spain playing in the final adds further allure to the Bernabeu’s bid.
