Kompany returns to Manchester for Guardiola farewell

Vincent Kompany returned to Manchester for Pep Guardiola’s farewell ceremony. The Bayern München coach presented one of twenty trophies Manchester City won under Guardiola’s leadership.

Twenty trophy holders attended the event at the Etihad Stadium. Guardiola, 55, led Manchester City to 20 major trophies during his tenure from 2016 to 2024.

Kompany, 40, a former Manchester City captain, lifted the 2018 Premier League title as a player. He now serves as Bayern München’s head coach.

Guardiola’s final match as Manchester City manager was the 2024 FA Cup final. Manchester City defeated Manchester United 2-1 in that game.

Bayern München’s delegation included club legend Thomas Müller. The event marked Guardiola’s transition to Barcelona as their new manager.
