Report Inter Ready Third Bid for Curtis Jones as Liverpool Hold Firm
£21 million is the amount Inter Milan have offered in their third bid for 22‑year‑old English midfielder Curtis Jones. The Serie A champions are keen to plug a midfield void after losing a key playmaker, while Liverpool hold firm on a higher valuation. Both clubs see the fee as a test of their transfer strategies this summer.
The report notes that Inter’s earlier two offers were presented in January but Liverpool rejected them, maintaining a valuation of £34 million and a minimum asking price of £30 million. Liverpool also outlined a £25 million replacement plan should Jones depart.
Curtis Jones says he is encouraged by Inter’s persistence and is open to moving to Milan’s San Siro this summer, a sentiment captured in an IMAGO photograph of him contemplating the switch. He believes a move to Milan would give him a clearer path to regular minutes.
The midfielder also states he will fight for his place under new Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola, though he doubts his chances of becoming a regular starter at Anfield. Iraola’s appointment adds another factor to Jones’s decision.
If Jones departs, Liverpool plan to sign a new central midfielder; if he remains, no further signings are viewed as a priority. The club’s stance underscores their commitment to the £30 million threshold.
Inter are trying to buy smart while Liverpool are ready to hold out for their price, meaning the deal will only progress if the £21 million gap is bridged. The negotiation reflects a wider trend of clubs balancing squad needs against valuation expectations in the summer market.
