Record champion Ajax secures ex‑BVB star Julian Brandt on long‑term deal

Ex‑Borussia Dortmund star Julian Brandt has signed for Dutch record champion Ajax, confirming a move abroad on Friday evening, 31 July, with a contract that runs until 2029. The 30‑year‑old offensive player, who left Borussia Dortmund earlier this year, will join the Eredivisie club for the upcoming season.

For a long time, rumours swirled around Brandt’s future after his BVB departure, leaving him clubless for months. The 30‑year‑old was without a club after his BVB exit.

Ajax officially announced the signing on Friday evening (31 July), confirming the German will be part of the squad from the start of the new season. The deal runs until 2029, securing the player for six years.

Brandt will feature for Ajax in the UEFA Conference League qualification in early August, and if the Dutch side progresses, he will also appear in international matches next season. The German will therefore be involved in European competition shortly after his arrival.
