Ravenna launches global push as Ronaldinho returns for derby

Bright neon billboards bearing Ronaldinho, the Gaúcho, dominate Milan’s bustling streets, while curious passersby scan QR codes that promise a limited‑edition shirt. The spectacle underlines Ravenna Football Club’s ambition to turn a single appearance into a worldwide marketing surge.
Club officials confirmed that the Brazilian legend will line up for the derby against Forlì on 15 November, kicking off at 13:30 Brasília time. The announcement has set the stage for a high‑profile showcase in the third‑tier league.
Brand expansion worldwide
Ravenna has launched a suite of advertising campaigns, personalised merchandise and promotional actions aimed at extending its reach beyond Italy. The strategy seeks to capitalise on the star power of Ronaldinho to attract new supporters across continents.
Italian media report a flood of ticket and accreditation requests from diverse regions. Currently, roughly 2,800 members enjoy priority purchase, while about 1,500 seats are earmarked for the general public.
The Bruno Benelli stadium, still undergoing renovations, now holds 4,943 spectators. Despite the reduced capacity, the venue will host the much‑anticipated derby.
Ravenna’s ticket frenzy erupts as Ronaldinho returns
Beyond the pitch, Ravenna has installed billboards featuring Ronaldinho’s image at Milan landmarks such as San Babila and Brera. Each display includes a QR code that directs fans straight to the online shirt‑buying page.
Panini partnership and fan offers
This month the club announced a partnership with Panini to issue special Ronaldinho cards adorned with the team’s kit. The €10 package (approximately R$60) offers fans chances to win caps, autographed shirts and even a personal meeting with the former star.
On 17 October, Ravenna opened an official store in the Mercato Coperto, providing a physical hub for the new merchandise. Ronaldinho, now a shareholder of the Italian side, is actively involved in the international branding project.
Although he has not taken the field since 2015, when he played for Fluminense, Ronaldinho’s off‑field influence is set to reshape Ravenna’s profile on the global stage.
