PSG's eight‑minute blitz shatters Villarreal in Champions League

Rampant PSG secured first place in their Champions League group with a 6‑0 demolition of Villarreal at Estadio de la Ceramica on 3 November 2026, extending their perfect record and moving three points clear at the top of the competition.

FABIAN RUIZ scored twice as PSG delivered another Champions League masterclass.

Champions League background

Luis Enrique’s side opened their title defence by thrashing Slovan Bratislava 6‑1 and later beating Manchester City and Barcelona 4‑2 in statement victories.

Having collected only two points from their first three Ligue 1 fixtures, including a 2‑1 home loss to Monaco, PSG have now recorded ten successive wins across all competitions.

Early goal flood

PSG stunned the home crowd by racing to a 4‑0 advantage inside 17 minutes, with Joao Neves opening the scoring after a ninth‑minute corner, followed by Desire Doue, Senny Mayulu and Fabian Ruiz completing the blitz.

Doue forced goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi into a full‑length low save before Neves struck from close range, and three minutes later Akliouche’s pass found Doue, who curled a right‑footed shot into the bottom corner.

Within a minute the visitors were 3‑0 down, and Mayulu then found space in the box to fire a rising shot into the top corner.

After the interval, World Cup winner Ruiz added his second of the night to make it 5‑0, before substitute David Boly sealed the tally, confirming PSG’s 100 percent start in the competition.

Akliouche provided a second assist, threading a ball to Ruiz for a low finish past Gulacsi, while the Spaniard twice threatened a fifth, his angled effort grazing the post before Gulacsi produced another flying save.

PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov made his first stop in first‑half stoppage time, denying Ayoze Perez’s 25‑yard strike.

Five minutes after play resumed, Ruiz latched onto Vitinha’s free‑kick and buried his finish, extending the lead.

Villarreal midfielder Pape Gueye’s 66th‑minute long‑range effort tested Safonov, after which Enrique withdrew Doue, Vitinha and Achraf Hakimi in the 74th minute.

Despite the changes, Boly, on as a substitute, angled his shot home following Neves’ assist to complete the rout.
