PSG‑Lione postponed due to protests, concurrent with the Ballon d'Or
The Ligue 1 match between Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon, scheduled for Sunday 25 October at 20.45, has been postponed to Monday 26 October at 20.30 due to the ban imposed by the Paris Prefecture because of the ongoing protests.
The unexpected schedule change in France has hit Ligue 1. The marquee night of the most coveted trophy will be the showdown between Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon, played at the Parc des Princes. It is the match of the 8th round of the championship.
The match pits Luis Enrique’s PSG against Paulo Fonseca’s Lyon. The game had been set for Sunday 25 October at 20.45, but protest demonstrations in several major European cities, including Paris, prompted the authorities to reconsider the date. The Prefecture of the French capital therefore banned the meeting from taking place that afternoon.
Reasons for the postponement
The LFP posted on its official website a note stating: “The LFP acknowledges the order from the Police Prefecture that bans the staging of the Paris Saint‑Germain – Olympique Lyonnais match, valid for the eighth round of the Ligue 1 McDonald’s, Sunday 25 October at 20:45 and decides, in agreement with Ligue 1+, to postpone the match to Monday 26 October at 20:30”. The communication confirms the joint decision of the LFP and Ligue 1+.

The match will be broadcast live on Ligue 1+, featuring PSG and Lyon. The new schedule sets the kickoff at 20.30, thus ensuring compliance with the Prefecture’s order.
Ballon d'Or simultaneously
The postponement coincides with the Ballon d'Or ceremony, which will for the first time be held at the London Palladium Theatre in London. The event will start at 21.00, shortly after the final whistle expected for the match at the Parc des Princes. SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH the ceremony, fans will have to split their attention between the two major events.
