Protest risk postpones PSG‑Lyon clash to Monday
The Ligue 1 blockbuster scheduled for Sunday between defending champions Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique Lyon is being postponed by one day by the Paris police due to a looming wave of protests in the country and will now be played on Monday at 8:30 p.m. at the Prinzenpark Stadium, as Ligue 1 announced on Friday.
Postponement and security reasons
Originally the duel was scheduled for Sunday at 8:45 p.m. Ligue 1 moved it, following instructions from the Paris police headquarters, to Monday, October 26, at 8:30 p.m. The police had already classified the match as a potential security risk at the Prinzenpark Stadium. The decision comes amid expectations of further large demonstrations in the capital.
The meeting of Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain and current league leaders Olympique Lyon is the highlight of the eighth round. Both teams are fighting for the leading position in Ligue 1, with PSG regarded as the defending champion.
