Manchester United Pays €19m to Sack Ruben Amorim

🇬🇧

Manchester United announced on Wednesday 27 May that the dismissal of manager Ruben Amorim and his staff cost the club more than €19 million. The expense was disclosed in a club statement released the same day.

Amorim, the Portuguese coach, was removed from his role on 5 January. Michael Carrick was installed as interim manager at that time.

Carrick, a former Manchester United midfielder, has now been confirmed as the permanent head coach for the 2025‑26 Premier League season. The appointment follows his stewardship of the side after Amorim’s exit.

The €19 million figure reflects termination payments to Amorim and his backroom team. No additional fees or bonuses were mentioned in the announcement.

United will commence the 2025‑26 campaign under Carrick’s leadership. The club hopes the stability will translate into improved results.
