Porto's Farioli challenges Napoli, we will change approach for the Champions League

On Saturday evening Porto overwhelmed Estoril Praia 4-0 in the league.

Before the international break, the team still has important matches ahead, starting with the clash against Napoli, crucial for securing the first points in the Champions League.

At the end of the match, Francesco Farioli has already turned his attention to Wednesday evening’s appointment at Estádio do Dragão.

“If we look at the last two games, it has been fantastic to have the chance to reintegrate everyone into the squad,” the coach said.

“Some players have had the opportunity to play their first minutes,” he added.

“I firmly believe in the strength of this team and, tonight, we have once again seen how important the players coming off the bench are,” Farioli continued.

“We are happy with the result and now we want to look ahead and start preparing for the match against Napoli,” he concluded.

Differences and new approach

“There are some differences, starting with the opponents and their way of playing and approaching the game,” he observed.

“Our approach will also change,” he stated.

“We would like to play in the final 25 metres with that level of control and the ability to create chances in the box, but it is not always possible and sometimes the game takes a different turn,” he explained.

“I haven’t yet had time to analyse Napoli in detail; I will start studying them tomorrow to best prepare the players,” he said.

“We must start climbing the Champions League mountain,” he concluded.
