Police launch murder probe as Hendon mourns midfielder Williams

Police have opened a murder investigation after 26‑year‑old non‑league midfielder Ezekiel Williams was attacked in Milton Keynes in the early hours of Sunday, leading to his death despite having joined Hendon in September and scoring his first goal for the club.
Officers have arrested three men after Williams was allegedly attacked in Milton Keynes in the early hours of Sunday morning. Two of the men, aged 21 and 28, are from Luton and are suspected of murder; the third, aged 30, also from Luton, is suspected of assisting an offender. All three remain in custody as Thames Valley Police continue to investigate.
Police actions and investigation
Thames Valley Police has confirmed that a murder investigation has been launched following his death. Officers will maintain an increased police presence around The Hub and the city centre while enquiries continue. A dedicated Major Crime Unit investigation is underway.
A GoFundMe page was set up in Williams’ memory, allowing supporters to donate to his family. Hendon Football Club posted a tribute, describing Williams as a humble, unassuming and generous individual with a razor‑sharp wit. The club said Williams joined in September and quickly became a popular member of the dressing‑room.
The 26‑year‑old had been playing for eight‑tier Hendon at the time of his death. Hendon’s London Senior Cup tie against Woodford Town, scheduled for Wednesday, has been postponed.
Williams scored his first goal for the club in a 4‑2 home defeat to Jersey Bulls on October 24. His last appearance for the Greens came three days later against Egham Town.
