Guardiola Declines to Confirm Future After City Draw

🇬🇧 22 May 2026

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola refused to confirm rumours that his ten‑year tenure will end this season. He said he will speak to the club hierarchy before any public announcement.

Guardiola added that his first conversation will be with the club’s chairman. He noted that he could say he has one year left on his contract, a point that has been discussed for many years.

The manager’s comments came after City drew 1‑1 with Bournemouth, a result that allowed Arsenal to clinch the Premier League title. The stalemate meant City could not prevent Arsenal’s championship.

Guardiola repeated his usual deflection, stating that media speculation during a competition usually leads to poor outcomes. He warned that announcing possibilities while the season is ongoing is a “bad, bad result”.

He declined to provide further details on his future, keeping the focus on the club’s immediate matters. The manager emphasized that decisions will follow internal discussions.

A decision on Guardiola’s next steps is expected after talks with the chairman and other officials. The club and fans will await the outcome of those meetings.
