Pachuca turn to Montse Tomé after turbulent season for a fresh start
Montse Tomé, the former head coach of Spain’s women’s national side, was announced today as the new coach of Club de Futbol Pachuca Femenil, taking over the Tuzas ahead of Week 9.
Appointment follows a difficult spell
Óscar “Rambo” Torres left the club by mutual agreement after a run of four straight defeats that left Pachuca with seven points from eight games, sitting seventh and outside the playoff places.
The announcement arrived on 25 September 2026, with the club’s official Twitter account welcoming Tomé and referring to the team as “Las Diosas del Viento”.
Tomé’s pedigree and recent highlights
Tomé arrives after a distinguished tenure with Spain, guiding the side to the Women’s Nations League title in 2023‑24, a second‑place finish at the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025, and fourth place at the Paris Olympics.
She was captured by UEFA via Getty Images on 27 July 2025 at St. Jakob‑Park in Basel, Switzerland, watching the England‑Spain EURO final and biting her fingernail.
Torres had previously delivered Pachuca’s first league crown and a Champions of Champions trophy, but the recent slump prompted the change.
Tomé’s appointment signals a shift for the Spanish‑run club, hoping her international experience can reverse the current form and restore the Tuzas to playoff contention.
