Osimhen's double strike lifts Galatasaray in derby against Fenerbahçe

Galatasaray won the derby against Fenerbahçe at their own stadium, with Victor Osimhen deciding the match with two goals. The only goal for Fenerbahçe came from a brilliant overhead kick, while the Dutchman Nathan Aké watched from the stands due to injury.

Intense start and early cards

The match started at a high tempo with a physical tone. Referee Atilla Karaoğlan had already shown three yellow cards before the twentieth minute had passed.

Victor Osimhen got a shooting chance in the sixteenth minute and left Fenerbahçe goalkeeper Ederson helpless, scoring the first goal. Nine minutes later, in the 29th minute, he extended the lead with a long-range shot that Ederson again could not stop.

After the break, Osimhen tried to complete his hat-trick; he headed a third ball into the net, but the assistant referee disallowed the goal due to a slight offside position. Fenerbahçe started with Romelu Lukaku, while the Dutchman Nathan Aké could not play because of injury.

Derby result and standings

After just over an hour, İrfan Can Kahveci produced a spectacular overhead that made the ball bounce off the posts and brought Fenerbahçe back into the game. However, that remained the only goal for the visitors.

With the victory, Galatasaray remains the leader in the Turkish Süper Lig after nine rounds, with a two-point lead over surprising second-placed Amed SFK. The gap between Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe is now six points, while Trabzonspor is third.

The derby shows how Galatasaray maintains control of the game, while Fenerbahçe could only produce one brilliant action. The contrast underscores the current hierarchy in the competition.
