OM Mercato eyes Venezuelan midfielder Cásseres Jr for summer

Olympique de Marseille have named Venezuelan midfielder Cristian Cásseres Jr. of Toulouse FC as a potential summer Mercato signing. The prospect has already won near‑unanimous approval from Marseille supporters. LePetitOM disclosed the target after Olympique de Marseille’s 2‑0 victory over Toulouse.

Contract and potential

Cásseres Jr. is contracted with Toulouse until June 2028, meaning the Téfécé will retain him for at least two more seasons. His experience in Ligue 1 could make him an interesting option to strengthen Marseille’s midfield.

He has delivered several convincing Ligue 1 seasons and is off to an excellent start this campaign. He currently sits second in the Ligue 1 assists ranking, behind Florian Thauvin of RC Lens.

Supporter poll

These performances have not gone unnoticed by the Olympique de Marseille hierarchy. A poll on the But! OM X account asked supporters whether they would support signing Cásseres Jr. Seventy‑three point two percent answered “yes” while twenty‑six point eight percent voted “no”.

The majority view confirms strong supporter interest in the Venezuelan midfielder. His knowledge of Ligue 1, regularity at Toulouse and passing ability are seen as assets for Marseille’s midfield. The minority who voted “no” may prefer the club to explore other profiles. It remains to be seen whether Marseille’s interest will materialise in the coming months. Given his contract until June 2028, the player will not be easy to lure away from the Téfécé.
