Olmo out for El Clásico, Barcelona loses midfield battle against PSG
Dani Olmo will be absent from Barcelona for about a month after suffering a left adductor injury in the clash against Paris Saint-Germain. His absence confirms the midfield’s loss for the El Clásico against Real Madrid, scheduled for Sunday, October 25.
Olmo was substituted at the 27th minute, when Barcelona suffered their first defeat of the season. The collision occurred during the match between PSG and Barcelona, which ended with the culés’ loss.
Diagnosis and recovery timeline
The club released a statement confirming the left adductor injury and estimating the time out at approximately one month. The assessment was made after examinations carried out during the match.
“The examinations performed confirmed that Dani Olmo suffered a left adductor injury following a collision with an opposing player during the game against Paris Saint-Germain. The estimated time away is approximately one month,” Barcelona highlighted.
With the injury confirmed, Barcelona enter the clash against Real Madrid without the 28‑year‑old Spaniard. Olmo has recorded one goal and four assists in 12 games this season.
The midfield also loses the creativity that Olmo provided, having been a key piece in the club’s attacking play. His absence forces the coach to rethink the lineup for the classic.
The El Clásico, scheduled for Sunday, October 25, will be Barcelona’s first major test without Olmo. The club has not yet announced who will replace him in midfield.
