OFFICIAL STATEMENT MARIO GILA AC Milan sign Spanish defender

🇮🇹 By 4AllFootball Editorial ·

A nine‑year contract running until 30 June 2031 secures Spanish defender Mario Gila Fuentes for AC Milan, who will wear the number 34 shirt. The long‑term deal underlines the Rossoneri’s confidence in the 29‑year‑old’s ability to bolster their central defence.

AC Milan confirmed the move in an official statement released by the Rossoneri. The club announced that Gila will join from S.S. Lazio on the agreed terms. The announcement also noted his squad number will be 34.

Mario Gila Fuentes was born in Barcelona on 29 August 2000. He progressed through Spanish youth ranks before joining the Real Madrid Academy and later Real Madrid Castilla. He made his First Team debut in the 2021/22 season, contributing to the squad that won La Liga.

In the summer of 2022 Gila transferred to S.S. Lazio, where he accumulated 120 appearances and scored two goals over four seasons. His consistency earned him regular minutes in Serie A and exposure to European competition, enhancing his defensive résumé.

Gila earned his first Spain U21 cap on 23 September 2022 and featured in the 2023 U21 European Championship, making three appearances. He received his inaugural senior national team call‑up in 2025, underscoring his rising profile.

AC Milan targeted Gila for his proven consistency and experience across top European leagues, seeing him as a long‑term solution in central defence. The nine‑year contract reflects the club’s confidence in his ability to contribute to the Rossoneri’s ambitions.

The Spanish defender gains a platform at a historic club to further develop his game, while Milan adds depth and a versatile option to their back line. Both parties look forward to a partnership that could shape the club’s defensive stability through 2031.
