Official Otávio leaves Al Qadsiah for Al Rayyan, Qatar
Al Rayyan, a Qatari club, officially announced the signing of Portuguese international Otávio, who leaves Al Qadsiah to play in the Arab country. The 31‑year‑old attacking midfielder signed a contract, marking his first stint with a Qatari club.
The player arrives at Al Rayyan from the Saudi league, where he played for Al Qadsiah after a spell at Al Nassr. The transfer aims to strengthen the team in domestic and continental competitions.
Stint in the Saudi league
In 2023, Otávio moved to Al Nassr, accumulating more than 80 official games before moving to Al Qadsiah. The brief spell at Al Qadsiah served as a bridge to the new challenge in Qatar.
Career in Portuguese football
Before heading to the Middle East, the Portuguese‑Brazilian stood out mainly during his time at FC Porto, where he won several domestic titles. He also spent time at Vitória SC, playing on loan and gaining experience in the Primeira Liga.
Al Rayyan expects Otávio’s international experience to raise the team’s technical level, especially in midfield. The club emphasized that the signing aims to improve performance in domestic competitions and the AFC Champions League.
The signing was officially announced by the Qatari club, confirming the arrival of the Portuguese international to the squad and signalling renewed ambitions for the upcoming season.
