Official Köln announced the loan of teenage striker Fynn Schenten to a Dutch side, a move designed to fill the gap left by limited senior minutes and to advance the club’s long‑term plan of promoting academy talent into the first‑team attack.

Schenten will spend the season on loan at Roda JC Kerkrade in the Netherlands’ second division, with the agreement containing no purchase option. The arrangement is intended to give the 18‑year‑old consistent senior minutes away from the Bundesliga.

To date, Schenten has featured in seven Bundesliga matches and earned his first start in October, gaining valuable top‑flight experience. These appearances illustrate Köln’s willingness to test him at the highest level.

Last season he netted six goals in five UEFA Youth League games, including a strike against Inter Milan before a record sell‑out crowd at the RheinEnergieStadion. His scoring record highlights his instinctive finishing ability.

Technical director Lukas Berg explained, “One of our goals is to integrate as many players as possible from the FC Academy into the professional team. We discussed this plan with him early on and found Roda Kerkrade a suitable club where he’ll be close to home yet still have the opportunity to take the next steps in his development.”

Schenten added, “I got a taste of the Kölner experience last season. I’m 100 percent committed to taking on this challenge in Kerkrade and then returning to Geißbockheim a year from now, stronger than ever.”
