Official: AS Monaco sign Matthis Abline from FC Nantes for €30m

🇫🇷 By 4AllFootball ·

AS Monaco have moved to fill the void left by a departing striker, targeting a versatile forward as Folarin Balogun is set to exit after the 2026 World Cup. The club secured 23‑year‑old former France U21 striker Matthis Abline from Ligue 2 side FC Nantes in a reported €30 million deal.

Both clubs announced the signing as official. Nantes and Monaco reportedly agreed on a €25 million base fee with an additional €5 million in performance‑related add‑ons.

The transfer makes Abline the record sale for Les Canaris. Nantes, now relegated to Ligue 2, had anticipated his departure given his potential and marketability, and he is a former Rennes Academy graduate.

Monaco submitted several bids over the past months before finally securing their target. The Principality side eventually got their man after persistent negotiations.

Filipe Luis’s Monaco were expected to reinforce their attack as Folarin Balogun is likely to leave following a convincing 2026 World Cup with the USMNT. The club’s search for a versatile striker intensified accordingly.

Other departures are also looming, with PSG target Maghnes Akliouche and Aleksandr Golovin set to exit the Principality club. Both players have been linked with moves away as Monaco reshapes its roster.

The back‑to‑back Champions League winners are reportedly close to finalising the agreement for the France international. The deal underscores Monaco’s ambition to strengthen their squad ahead of European competition.
