RWDM Brussels vows cautious rebuild under returning chairman

At a packed press conference in Brussels, RWDM Brussels announced a new board led by former chairman Thierry Dailly, promising a measured reconstruction after the club’s relegation to the Eerste Nationale left it burdened with debt and uncertainty for the future.

The board presented its structure during the conference. Thierry Dailly will serve as chairman, Maxime Vossen has been appointed CEO, Bernard Stas will act as COO and René Bufkens will take the role of delegated director. Together they pledged to reform the organisation and lay foundations for a sustainable future.

Dailly stated, “Geen wilde sprongen, geen dure avonturen, maar een plan dat moet leiden tot langetermijnstabiliteit.” He acknowledged the club’s debts but insisted on delivering a respectable sporting performance.

He added, “We willen geen buitenbeentje in de competitie zijn; de kern wordt stap voor stap opgebouwd met betaalbare aankopen en een realistisch sportief plan.” The message underlines a focus on affordable signings and a realistic sporting plan.

The technical staff from the previous season, led by head coach Christ Bruno, retained the club’s confidence after safeguarding its existence under difficult circumstances. Their continued involvement signals continuity amid the broader transformation.

The club has already begun scouting for reinforcements, aware that it must field a team for the Croky Cup in two weeks. The league programme is set to commence on 23 August, heightening the urgency of early signings.

A fan‑crowdfunding campaign was launched, inviting supporters and local players to contribute. The appeal reads “Schrijf je HIER in!” and “Word fan van RWDM Brussels!” aiming to restore financial stability while keeping the club rooted in its community.
