Nice Ricort signals Moffi’s exit amid fan backlash
Twenty‑seven‑year‑old striker Terem Moffi has returned to OGC Nice after his loan at FC Porto expired, only to hear sporting director Roger Ricort declare that his future does not lie at the Allianz Riviera. The club made the stance clear on Wednesday during pre‑season training.
In November, after a defeat against FC Lorient, the Le Gym team bus was attacked by supporters. Moffi and Jérémie Boga were singled out, placed on sick leave and did not play for Nice thereafter.
Both players were expected to leave; Boga moved to Juventus, initially on loan and later permanently, while Moffi was set to depart on loan in January before his return. The club has signalled that he will not feature for the side again and placed him on the list of players it wants to see leave.
Ricord, who succeeded Florian Maurice, said, “We don’t necessarily respect the man but we will respect the player,” adding that Nice will shake hands with his agents when a new club is found. He confirmed the club is desperate to off‑load him and will seek a transfer elsewhere.
Moffi was present for the return to pre‑season training on Wednesday and remains under contract until the end of the season. The report was filed by GFFN’s Luke Entwistle.
