Newcastle United return dates amid major Dan Burn Blow

Newcastle United face a major blow amid defender Dan Burn injuries, as he suffers ankle ligament damage that rules him out for the next seven games with a return only after the international break, leaving the Magpies to manage a string of injuries and uncertain return dates.

Injury updates and return timelines

Burn's ankle ligament injury was initially thought minor but has now been upgraded, meaning he will miss the first seven fixtures. Manager Matthias Jaissle confirmed the prognosis and said the club will reassess after the international break.

Midfielder Joelinton will be sidelined for another two to three weeks with a groin problem. Jaissle said last week, “Yeah, for sure, he's out for a couple of weeks, but I don't want to go too much into detail… I’m really confident that he will be back ASAP.”

Winger Livramento is close to returning, but Jaissle warned he still needs a week or two. “It’s for sure too early. We had just one training session where he was partially involved, so we need to be smart with his progress,” the coach explained.

Defender Osula’s ankle injury after a clash with Virgil van Dijk remains unclear. Early reports suggest it is not serious, but the exact return date for the Carabao Cup tie or the upcoming league match is still unknown.

The club's injuries are mounting as the season progresses, and Newcastle’s next challenge is a Carabao Cup clash with West Brom before a league visit to Tottenham, a test of squad depth after the opening weekend loss to Liverpool.
