Neville warns of a black cloud over Manchester City after victory

Gary Neville, former Manchester United defender and television pundit, commented on the recent off‑field accusations against Manchester City, while the team coached by Enzo Maresca celebrated a 3‑0 victory over Liverpool, reduced to ten men at the 62nd minute.

Neville, 51, said this is the first Manchester City match he has commented on since the accusations surfaced a few weeks ago. He added that, if the broadcasts of City’s matches had been removed until the verdict, it would have been perfect.

Independent Commission Verdict

The Premier League Independent Commission has issued a ruling on 114 alleged financial breaches attributed to the club over nine consecutive seasons. Manchester City, known as the sky blues, has lodged an appeal, but the decision could translate into heavy sanctions.

Manchester City returned to the field after a long national break, delivering a clear 3‑0 to Liverpool. The team remained ahead even after the opponents were reduced to ten men at the 62nd minute.

In his appearance on the BBC, Neville praised Ruben Dias, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Elliott Anderson, calling them excellent in performance. According to him, defensive solidity allowed City to control the tempo of the match.

At the end of the match, the commentator warned that, if the guilty verdicts are confirmed, a black cloud will loom over the club. This prospect, he emphasized, could dim the sporting successes.
