Napoli’s summer purge: Six players left out as wage cut plan tightens

Six players – Obaretin, Cajuste, Folorunsho, Ngonge, Lindstrom and Cheddira – have been told there is no place for them in Massimiliano Allegri’s SSC Napoli, as the club’s summer Calciomercato strategy tightens under Aurelio De Laurentiis and Giovanni Manna. The directive follows the club’s objective to thin the squad and cut wages.

Objective to thin the squad

L'obiettivo of Aurelio De Laurentiis and Giovanni Manna for the summer Calciomercato is to thin the blue squad and lower the wage bill. The plan targets a leaner roster while keeping the core built by Massimiliano Allegri.

At present, everything remains blocked, and in the coming hours the club’s director will work at several tables. The internal note, marked Stampa A− A+, no decisive sales have been finalised yet.

Six players without a place

Beyond Noa Lang and Lorenzo Lucca, Napoli has no space for six additional players. The list includes Obaretin, Cajuste, Folorunsho, Ngonge, Lindstrom and Cheddira, all deemed surplus to Allegri’s plans.

The current edition of Corriere dello Sport reported: "Ci sono i calciatori che dovranno trovare spazio negli ultimi giorni di mercato." It underlines that these six players must find new clubs before the window closes.

These departures represent the final piece of the blue market, aiming to achieve the wage‑reduction goal set by the hierarchy. SSC Napoli expects the trimmed squad to start the season with a more sustainable payroll.

With the squad trimmed, SSC Napoli hopes to align its financial structure with the strategic vision of De Laurentiis and Manna. The club’s focus now shifts to integrating the remaining players under Allegri’s tactical framework.
