Nantes keep Reims at bay but offensive spark remains dim

On Saturday, FC Nantes were held to a goalless draw by Stade de Reims on the eighth matchday of Ligue 2, prompting a detailed rating of the Canaris’ performances that highlighted a solid defence but a faltering attack overall throughout.

Defensive solidity under the spotlight

Patrick Carlgren (5.5) earned his first start of the season, replacing Maxime Dupé between the posts and keeping a clean sheet with several easy saves. He was authoritative in aerial duels but showed a touch of weakness with his feet.

Kelvin Amian (5.5) was preferred over Frédéric Guilbert in central defence, delivering a neutral yet tidy display and reliable ball‑play in his relays. Captain Lucas Perrin (6) impressed with a solid overall showing, using his physicality in duels while committing a few fouls. Saïdou Sow (5) saw little defensive action and might have headed a set‑piece goal if not for Reims keeper Tom Ritzy Hülsmann’s save in the 47th minute.

Fodé Doucouré (5) remained active forward but struggled defensively against Mohamed Daramy, especially in the first half, and was substituted by Fabien Centonze in the 77th minute. Johann Lepenant (5) returned to the back line, staying quiet early before becoming more involved in the second half, before Balthazar Pierret replaced him at the same 77th‑minute mark.

Attacking efforts fall short

Ibrahima Sissoko (4) offered pressing intensity but touched the ball only 44 times and received a caution for an anti‑sport foul after an avoidable loss of possession in the 80th minute. Wilitty Younoussa (4.5) worked hard on the left wing but failed to make a significant offensive impact, making way for Dehmaine Tabibou at the 68th minute.

Ryad Hachem (6.5), re‑started by Gregory Poirier as left wing‑back, delivered an energetic performance, creating danger in front of goal while remaining defensively sound, before being taken off for Antoine Joujou in the 86th minute. Ignatius Ganago (6) combined well with Hachem, staying active on the left flank, though many attempts went unanswered, and was substituted by Killian Corredor at the 68th minute.

Thomas Robinet (4) struggled to find realism in front of goal, missing several chances, yet still contributed to Nantes’ play and could have generated more opportunities with better service. The ratings were compiled by Fabien Chorlet, correspondent at Beaujoire, and shared on social media with the hashtags #FCNSDR and #FCNantes.
