Nantes hold firm on Matthis Abline price despite Ligue 2 drop

🇫🇷 By 4AllFootball Editorial ·

FC Nantes have turned down the latest bid for 23‑year‑old France youth international Matthis Abline, despite their recent drop to Ligue 2, signalling the club’s determination to secure a valuation that matches last summer’s €40‑50 million estimate. The club’s refusal follows a report from L’Équipe that the offer fell short of the €30 million floor the Canaris now expect.

The Loire-based club lost its Ligue 1 status after a middling campaign in which the Frenchman featured in 34 matches and scored eight goals, leaving a clear void in attacking options. Retaining Matthis Abline is therefore central to Nantes’ plan to bounce back to the top flight.

Both Wolverhampton Wanderers and Paris FC have expressed interest, but their offers failed to reach the price Nantes set, meaning the 23‑year‑old stayed at the Beaujoire. The report from L’Équipe noted that the French youth international’s market value remains above the bids on the table.

AS Monaco, the Principality club, tabled a €20 million proposal, while Paris FC returned with a €23 million bid, each of which Les Canaris rejected. The competing interest underscores the player’s reputation despite the team’s recent relegation.

Nantes has now lowered its floor to a minimum of €30 million, down from the €40‑50 million range cited last summer, yet no suitor has matched this revised figure. The club’s stance suggests they are willing to negotiate but will not settle for less than the adjusted valuation.

Further discussions are expected with Monaco, but the club must bridge the gap before any transfer can proceed. Luke Entwistle reported that the Loire region will be watching closely as the summer window progresses.
