Murray targets Hibs Euro revival as Malisheva looms in Leith

Women's head coach Joelle Murray is confident Hibernian can replicate their famous Euro comeback by overturning Kosovan side Malisheva’s 2‑0 first‑leg deficit in Thursday’s Conference League second‑qualifying round tie at Easter Road in Leith. "I know the Easter Road crowd can be unforgiving at times," Murray told the BBC’s Scottish Football Podcast. She added that an early aggressive approach could sway the atmosphere. The coach believes the fans’ reaction will influence the match’s tempo.

"So I think forward passes, penetrating passes and just really playing with that intent from the very first whistle is important," she explained. She emphasised the need for forward momentum from kickoff. This tactical plan aims to create scoring opportunities quickly.

"With an early goal, that should hopefully see them progress. They've obviously got history of overturning a poor first leg in the second one," Murray said. She referenced Hibernian’s past Euro comebacks as motivation. The goal is to replicate that success this evening.

Murray expressed disappointment that wing‑back Nicky Cadden, new signing Callum Wright and midfielder Jamie McGrath will miss the match through injury.
