Mourinho warns Vinicius Jr: the shirt is untouchable at Real Madrid

José Mourinho warned Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr, emphasizing that the shirt is untouchable. The Portuguese coach said, on the eve of the Champions League against RB Leipzig, that no one has a guaranteed starting place, only performances count.

Meritocracy at Real Madrid City

The words of the Special One sound like a signal to the Brazilian striker. Mourinho, referred to as MOURINHO, ruled out that anyone at Real Madrid, including Vinicius Junior, has a guaranteed starting spot. He reiterated that in the CHAMPIONS and in the LEAGUE only performance on the pitch matters.

During the press conference, Mourinho stated: “The badge is untouchable”. He added: “I don’t like the idea of an untouchable player, neither the status, nor the captain’s armband, nor the years at the club”. For him, the only untouchable is the one who convinces on the field.

The next test is against Leipzig, in a crucial CHAMPIONS showdown. Mourinho met the journalists at Real Madrid City, emphasizing that the team must turn its demands into a convincing performance. For the club, a positive result is essential for European ambitions.

Vinicius and his teammates will have to prove their worth to enter the coach’s future plans. Only those who meet his expectations can earn a place in the starting lineup of the European League.

The contrast between the club’s tradition and the meritocracy demand highlighted by Mourinho shows that, at Real Madrid, the shirt remains sacred but the right to wear it depends solely on performance.
