Milan’s twist sees Chukwueze adopt Amad Diallo role under Amorim

🇬🇧 By 4AllFootball Editorial ·

Milan have unveiled a new tactical role for Samuel Chukwueze in their first training session under coach Ruben Amorim, echoing the way Amad Diallo was deployed at Manchester United. The Rossoneri shift places the former Fulham winger wide right of a four‑man midfield, a clear departure from his usual attacking duties.

The session took place today at the historic Milanello training ground, marking the start of the club’s pre‑season under Amorim. Fans gathered to watch the ranks game and catch an early glimpse of the side’s potential shape.

RedBird patron Gerry Cardinale arrived and departed by helicopter, underscoring the high‑profile backing of the project. His presence added a touch of spectacle to the otherwise routine training routine.

While a 3‑4‑2‑1 formation had been anticipated, the surprise was Chukwueze’s deployment on the right side of midfield rather than as a forward. The move mirrors the coach’s previous experiment with Amad Diallo at Manchester United during the latter’s brief spell at Old Trafford.

Amorim’s willingness to repurpose wide attackers reflects his adaptive philosophy. Diallo’s experience at United, though short‑lived, demonstrated the viability of such a role in a top‑level Premier League side.

Chukwueze, traditionally an attacking winger, now operates in a deeper, more supportive position within the system. He returned to Milan after a loan at Fulham where he recorded three goals and four assists across 25 appearances.

The first pre‑season goal for Milan was netted by youngster Andrej Kostic, offering an early sign of the squad’s attacking options. Kostic’s strike provided a positive start to the Rossoneri’s preparations.
